Liborius Olaf Lumma

Liborius Olaf Lumma (* 1973 in Siegen ) is an Austrian Roman Catholic theologian and liturgical scholar .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1993, he studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Munich School of Philosophy from 1995 to 2002 . The graduate theologian (2002 in Münster) completed a doctoral degree from 2003 to 2006 at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck in the field of liturgical science . From 2005 to 2006 he led a research project on Gregorian chant financed by the “Tiroler Wissenschaftsfonds” , affiliated to the Institute for Historical Theology (from 2006: Institute for Biblical Studies and Historical Theology). Since receiving his doctorate with distinction as Dr. theol. in Innsbruck in 2006 he is university assistant at the Institute for Biblical Studies and Historical Theology at the University of Innsbruck. After completing his habilitation in 2015, he was appointed private lecturer .

Lumma conducts research in the areas of theory and practice of Gregorian chant, the Christian liturgy of the day , intercession prayer (general prayer) and ecumenical theology , especially on the relationships between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches . He participates in the Ecumenical Dialogue on behalf of the Diocese of Innsbruck and has been a member of the Ecumenical Commission of the Austrian Bishops' Conference and the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Austria since 2009 . From 2012 to 2019 he was chairman of the then Ecumenical Working Group of the Diocese of Innsbruck. Since 2019 he has been a member of the board of the newly founded Ecumenical Working Group of Churches in Tyrol as secretary and has been appointed ecumenical officer of the Diocese of Innsbruck. Since 2004 he has been a member of the International Society for the Study of Gregorian Chant (AISCGre) and since 2015 a board member in its German-speaking section.

In 2020, Liborius Lumma received Austrian citizenship. His hobbies are baseball , darts and mountain hiking .
