Lichtenborn is a district of the small town Hardegsen in the Northeim district in southern Lower Saxony .

At approx. 340 m above sea level, Lichtenborn is Hardegsen's highest village. The village lies between the B 241 and the Solling-Vogler Nature Park . The closest neighboring town is Ellierode (Hardegsen) . An unnamed tributary of the Espolde rises near Lichtenborn .

etymology

The ending -born means something like source. The adjective for "clear, luminous, bright" was used as a defining word. The place name developed from the phrase * to dem lechten born (to the clear, bright source).

history

In 1486 citizens of Göttingen destroyed the village.

On March 1, 1974, Lichtenborn was incorporated into the city of Hardegsen.
