Lidewij Edelkoort (* 1950 in Wageningen ) is a Dutch trend researcher.

Life

Edelkoort started her career in the Amsterdam department store De Bijenkorf as a fashion coordinator. After graduating from ArtEZ Conservatorium , she moved to Paris where she worked as an independent trend consultant in 1975. Shortly thereafter, she founded the consulting firm Trend Union , with its headquarters in Paris . Trend Union publishes a book of trend forecasts twice a year, which is mainly aimed at the fashion and design scene . Then she founded the company Studio Edelkoort , a consultancy with two branches, one in New York City (Edelkoort Inc.) and one in Tokyo (Edelkoort East).

She was mainly involved in designing products for international brands, giving them a product identity and developing marketing strategies . Her customers include Coca-Cola , Nissan , Camper , Siemens and Douwe Egberts . In the beauty industry, Studio Edelkoort has products and strategies for Estée Lauder , Lancôme , L'Oréal , Shiseido , Dim and Gucci .

In her manifesto The Emancipation of Everything 2017 , published in 2015, she predicts a radical transformation of society.

Edelkoort was named a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau by the Dutch court .

She lives in Paris.
