Lidija Herassymchuk

Lidija Pawliwna Herassymtschuk ( Ukrainian Лідія Павлівна Герасимчук , Russian Лидия Павловна Герасимчук / Lidija Pavlovna Gerassimtschuk * 5. May 1922 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , † 5. December 1958 ibid) was a Ukrainian prima ballerina .

Life

Lidija Herassymtschuk completed her training at the choreographic colleague in Kiev in 1937 and was engaged as a ballerina at the Taras Shevchenko Opera House in Kiev from the same year . During the German-Soviet War she was employed at the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad and then again at the Kiev Opera for the rest of her life. She danced as a prima ballerina in larger roles, including in Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky , Don Quichotte by Léon Minkus , La Esmeralda by Cesare Pugni and Gayaneh by Aram Chatschaturjan .

She died in Kiev at the age of 36 and was buried there in the Baikowe cemetery . On the grave is the bronze sculpture "The Dying Swan", the depiction of a ballerina by the sculptor Petro Pylypowytsch Ostapenko from 1960.
