Liebfrauenkirche in Bad Salzuflen

The Church of Our Lady in Bad Salzuflen is a Roman Catholic parish church . Church and congregation belong to the pastoral association of Bad Salzuflen-Schötmar of the Dean's Office Bielefeld-Lippe in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

history

The Catholic Church of St. Bonifatius in Bad Salzuflen no longer met the spatial requirements of the growing community in the middle of the 20th century. The Liebfrauenkirche was built between 1956 and 1958 according to plans by Josef Lucas .

architecture

The high hall church is its annexes by a gable roof covered. The side aisles are lower and lie under pent roofs . The windows above the side aisles protrude outwards so that the walls appear much stronger.

On the gable side there are two concrete reliefs by the sculptor Josef Rikus , which show the Lord's Supper and a Christ enthroned. The gable is flanked by the windowless and rectangular tower.

Furnishing

The interior of the church is a large hall with a flat wooden ceiling. The walls stand on low pillars and are brightly colored. The altar wall is slightly curved. Josef Rikus initially designed a depiction of the crucifixion, the model of which is now in the crypt . However, it was not implemented. Instead, Heinrich Gerhard Bücker made a hanging cross in 1965, which was moved further into the room in 1984. In the chancel there is a large tabernacle tree , altar , ambo and a baptismal font from Rikus.

While the organ used to be in the side tower, since 1984 a larger organ by Gustav Steinmann Orgelbau can be found on the back wall of the church. It has 41 stops on three manuals.
