BW

The Liebfrauen chapel was the Catholic chapel in Lüdingworth , a district of Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony . Most recently it belonged to the parish of Heilig Kreuz in Otterndorf or St. Marien in Cuxhaven, and to the diocese of Hildesheim . The chapel was named after the Marian title Our Lady and was located in the street Liebfrauentrift 2 . Today Twelve Apostles in Altenwalde, about nine kilometers away, is the closest Catholic church.

history

The chapel was built in the second class of the former school, built in 1928, and the rest of the school was demolished. A concrete tower was erected above the entrance door, which was torn down again after the chapel was profaned . The planned bell installation did not materialize. The chapel, which is just under 2 meters above sea level , was commissioned between 1960 and 1967.

Between 1986 and 1991 the chapel was profaned. In 1995 the city of Cuxhaven acquired the building and left it to the History and Local History Association Lüdingworth von 1988 eV After extensive renovation work, it now serves as an exhibition and work building, called Worth-Huus .
