Final result of the 2007 general election

In the parliamentary elections on June 30, 2007 in East Timor , seven parties failed because of the new three percent hurdle and thus did not get into the national parliament . Six of these parties then founded the Liga Democrática Progressiva LDP ( Progressive Democratic League ) as a joint political platform in July 2007 . What is noticeable in the name is that the correct Portuguese word would be “ Progressista ”.

The parties belonged to different parts of the political spectrum. Members of the alliance were the Partido Democrata Cristão PDC , the Partido Democrática Republica de Timor PDRT , the Partido Milénio Democrático PMD , the Partido Nasionalista Timorense PNT , the Partido Socialista de Timor PST and the União Democrática Timorense UDT . Together they had received 7.86% of the vote in the election. The Partidu Republikanu PR is not part of the alliance .

The spokesman for the LDP was Hermenegildo Lopes from the PMD.
