description Austrian series of publications on wood research
First edition November 2001
ISSN (print)

LIGNOVISIONEN is a series of publications published by the Institute for Wood Research, Department for Materials Science and Process Technology, at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna .

The word Lignovisionen is a made-up word made up of lignum (lat. Wood) and vision (lat., Visio, meton. Appearance in the mind's eye) and is intended to be part of the series of publications, which are produced in cooperation with various partners (e.g. Association of Austrian Wood Management, Wood K plus, other departments at BOKU or partners from business).

This joint editorship is intended to ensure the close ties between the Institute for Wood Research (ihf) and the graduates of the former wood industry and today's baccalaureate studies in wood and natural fiber technology as well as the master’s degree in wood technology and management with a central reference institute for the students of these studies on the one hand and scientific and economic institutions on the other hand, document.

Thus, the meeting of research - teaching - professional activity and the related interrelationships between research and economic practice should be shown. This medium enables young but also long-established scientists to publish knowledge on a larger scale.

history

In November 2001 , on the 75th birthday of Friedrich Wassipaul (former head of the institute), the first volume - entitled Eine Holzzeitgeschichte - Contours of Research and Teaching in Austria  - was published. From then on, further volumes with a wide variety of topics have been published at regular intervals. In February 2005 the format (from A5 to B5) and the appearance were adjusted to the new standards of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.

The editor of this series is the former director of the Institute for Wood Technology and Renewable Raw Materials, Alfred Teischinger . Daniela Romstorfer was in charge of editorial management until the end of 2008. Marie Louise Zukal held this position until the end of 2012, and Robert Stingl has been in charge of the editorial department ever since.
