Lilia Moritz Schwarcz

Lilia Katri Moritz Schwarcz (* 1957 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian human scientist , university professor and publisher .

Life

Blackcz received his doctorate in social anthropology from the University of São Paulo in 1993 with a thesis on racist knowledge and completed his habilitation there in 1998.

In her writings, she deals with monarchical Brazil , slavery in Brazil , symbol formation , history of anthropology , ethnicity , visual anthropology, and social identity .

Her work As barbas do Imperador (The Emperor's Beard) about Emperor Pedro II was awarded the Prêmio Jabuti in 1999 as the best non-fiction book of the year . She published this bestseller in the Companhia das Letras publishing house , which was founded in São Paulo in 1986 with her husband Luiz Schwarcz and which has developed into the most renowned publishing house in Brazil.
