Lilium brownii ( Chinese  野百合 , Pinyin yě bǎihé ) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the oriental section .

description

Lilium brownii reaches a height of 80 cm to 200 cm. The bulbs are round and reach a diameter of about 2 to 4.5 cm, they are covered with white lanceolate scales.

The stem is smooth, papillate and straight, the leaves narrow and spatula to lanceolate , about 7 to 15 cm long and 0.6 to 2 cm wide. They are annoying in the structure and distributed around the stem.

The plant blooms from June to August with one or more sweet-smelling flowers in an umbel . The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold. The six identical bloom cladding sheets ( tepals ) are bent outwards to form a funnel, the tips are bent back. The color of the flowers is white, sometimes with a slight purple tinge, without points. The nectaries are papillary on both sides. The six stamens curved upwards, the filaments 10 to 13 cm long, densely glandular and often sticky. There are three carpels, the stylus is 8.5 to 11 cm long. The individual flowers reach a diameter of 20 mm to 45 mm and are 13 to 18 cm long.

The seeds ripen from August to September in 5.5 cm to 6 cm large seed pods and germinate immediately - epigeously in a cold period, the germination takes between two and four weeks.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Lilium brownii is native to grassy slopes and forests, often near rivers or in badlands.

The plant is endemic to the People's Republic of China .
