Lilium medogense is a plant type from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the section Sinomartagon . It wasfirst describedin 1985 by Sung Yun Liang .

description

Lilium medogense reaches heights of between 35 and 50 centimeters.

The approximately round onion has a diameter of around 2.2 centimeters, the lanceolate scales are purple-red, 1.7 to 2.2 centimeters long and 6 millimeters wide. Above the onion there are a few roots on the shoot, then two to four lower leaves , then two to three individual leaves , above the leaves in whorls of five to eight . There are usually four of these whorls, spaced 2.5 to 5 centimeters apart. The leaves are inverted ovate-lanceolate to elliptical, 4.5 to 6 inches long and 17 to 22 millimeters wide. The stem is finely papilla .

One to three bell-shaped flowers are formed in June . The bloom cladding leaves are slightly sack-shaped at the base, dark purple at the base, unspotted, elliptical and between 5 and 6 centimeters long and 2 to 2.4 centimeters wide.

The hairless stamens are around 2.5 centimeters long, significantly shorter than the bracts, the elongated, round anthers are around 13 millimeters long and 2 millimeters thick. The ovary is about 14 millimeters long and about 3 millimeters wide, of the stylus is about 2.5 centimeters long. The scar is enlarged and rounded and measures about 8 millimeters in diameter.

distribution

The species has so far only been detected in the southeast of the Chinese province of Xizang (Tibet Autonomous Region) in the Mêdog district in rocky clearings in fir forests .

Systematics

The species is morphologically very close to Lilium paradoxum . It is therefore believed that both species could be merged into one, but further research is needed to determine the degree of relationship more precisely. The specific epithet medogense is derived from the place where it was found in the Mêdog district.

The type specimen was found on June 26, 1980 by Wei Lie Chen near Mêdog. It is in today Herbarium of Peking University held.
