Limonium ocymifolium is a species of the genus of the beach Lilac ( Limonium ) in the family of plumbaginaceae (Plumbaginaceae).
features
Limonium ocymifolium is a perennial subshrub that reaches heights of 18 to 25 centimeters. The entire plant, especially the leaves, are floured ash gray. The leaves measure 15 to 25 × 5 to 12 millimeters. They are rounded or slightly edged, spatulate, dry wrinkled and one-nerved.
The outline of the panicle is rhombic to trugdoldig. The ears are dense and have 3 to 5 spikelets per centimeter . These are upright-protruding, arranged in two lines and one to two-flowered (rarely three-flowered). The outer supporting sheet is 2 to 2.5 millimeters in size and has a wide skin edge. The inner supporting sheet is purple to dark brown, 4 to 5 × 3 millimeters in size and has a 1 millimeter wide skin edge. The calyx is straight, hairy at the base, and 4 to 5 (7) millimeters in size. The crown is colored purple or pink.
The flowering period extends from May to July.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 43.
Occurrence
Limonium ocymifolium is endemic to the Cyclades . The name has also been misused for similar clans from the Aegean Sea. The species grows on limestone and conglomerate rocks by the sea.
