There he scored 250 kg (112.5-137.5) in a duel and won ahead of the two South Koreans Ham Jong-koo, 242.5 kg (107.5-135) and Ko Kwang-ku, 240 kg (102, 5-137.5).

In 1992 he also won the Asian flyweight championship. No details are known about this championship.

In the same year he prevailed in China in the eliminations for the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and started there with his compatriot Zhang Zairong in the flyweight division. In Barcelona he was in very good shape and scored 262.5 kg (115-127.5) in a duel, with which he narrowly defeated the Bulgarian Ivan Ivanov , who scored 265 kg (115-150), and won the silver medal.

After this great success, Lin Qisheng, although only 21 years old, has not competed in any other international championships. The reasons for this are not known. As with many Chinese weightlifters at the time, his career was very short.
