Ling Rinpoche Thubten Lungtog Tendzin Thrinle ( Tib . : gling rin po che thub bstan lung rtogs bstan 'dzin' phrin las ; * 1903 in Yabphu near Lhasa ; † 1983 in Dharmshala ) was senior tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama Tendzin Gyatsho and the 97. Ganden Thripa .

biography

Thubten Lungtog Tendzin Thrinle was born in 1903 in Yabphu, northwest of Lhasa. He was recognized by the 13th Dalai Lama Thubten Gyatsho as the trülku of his former tutor (Tib .: yongs' dzin ; Yongdzin) Lobsang Lungtog Tendzin Thrinle (1850–1902) and enthroned as Ling Rinpoche at the age of seven. His extensive Buddhist training began after he was accepted into Drepung Loseling at the age of about ten . He received full ordination as a monk (Tib .: dge slong ; Gelong) from the 13th Dalai Lama at the age of twenty, and he received the title Geshe Lharampa in 1924 in Norbulingka .

In 1936, Ling Rinpoche was appointed abbot of Gyüto ( rgyud stod grva tshang ) by the 5th Radreng Rinpoche . In 1940 he became the junior tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama. From 1950/51 Ling Rinpoche was also political advisor to the 14th Dalai Lama and after 1953 his senior tutor.

In 1954 he accompanied the 14th Dalai Lama to Beijing . He took part in the session of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China as a deputy and was elected Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of China on September 27th.

Two years later, in 1956, he traveled to India with the 14th Dalai Lama to celebrate the 2500th birthday ( Vesakh ) of Buddha Shakyamuni (according to the Buddhist era ).

Like many other lamas of his generation, Ling Rinpoche fled from the People's Liberation Army from Tibet to India in 1959 . a. lived with the 14th Dalai Lama in Mussoorie . On behalf of the 14th Dalai Lama, he founded a school for Buddhist dialectics in Ladakh and visited refugee settlements in Dalhousie in Chamba and Buxa in Assam . In 1960 they moved to Dharmshala . In the course of a serious illness, Ling Rinpoche received treatment first in Calcutta , then in Darjiling , in Switzerland and in Paris . However, he attributed the healing success to Tibetan medicine .

After the death of 96th Ganden Thripa, Ling Rinpoche was made 97th Ganden Thripa and abbot of Gaden Phelgye Ling Monastery in Bodhgaya in 1965 .

1968 Ling Rinpoche and were Trijang Rinpoche to Rikon invited to the local monastic Tibet Institute Rikon inaugurate.

Back in India in 1969, Ling Rinpoche gave teachings on Tsongkhapa's Lamrim chenmo at Gaden Phelgye Ling Monastery in Bodhgaya. In 1972 he traveled again to Europe and in 1980 to North America .

In September 1983 Ling Rinpoche Thubten Lungtog Tendzin Thrinle suffered a severe stroke in Dharmshala. A few months later he died there at the age of 80.
