Linn M. Persson

Linn Mikaela Persson (born March 19, 1972 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish environmental chemist . She heads the Governance and Institutions department at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) .

Career

Persson received his PhD in environmental chemistry from Stockholm University in 2003 with a dissertation on the topic of Methods for the study of dissolved organic matter as an environmental actor (dt. "Methods for the investigation of dissolved organic matter as an environmental actor "). She worked for the Chemicals Division of the United Nations Environment Program in Geneva, the Swedish Embassy in Kenya and the Department of Applied Environmental Science at Stockholm University before joining SEI in 2005 as a research fellow.

Act

Her work focuses on environmental pollution with chemical substances, chemical management and international environmental agreements . Her research interests also include studies on the transfer of chemical risks along complex supply chains and ways of reducing chemical risks in global manufacturing. Persson's work has repeatedly addressed planetary boundaries .

In addition to the concept of Planetary Boundaries developed by Johan Rockström in 2009 , which identified nine limits, in 2013 she was the first author to publish an article dealing with the threat to planetary boundaries from chemical pollution and a strategy for proactive hazard identification outlined. She co- authored the scientific publication Planetary Boundaries. Guiding human development on a changing planet in the journal Science was quickly cited a thousand times, it is one of the most cited articles in its field of study in 2015 and has had a significant influence on the environmental policy discussion and the international sustainability discourse. Eighteen international researchers try to estimate the fractures in the natural world and come to the conclusion that the earth could not be a safe habitat for humans in the coming years if ecological growth, technology and consumption continue to develop as before .
