Linnaeus Edford La Fetra (also Linnaeus E. La Fetra , born October 12, 1868 in Washington, DC , † December 27, 1965 ) was an American pediatrician .

Life

Family and education

Born in Washington, Linnaeus Edford La Fetra, eldest of three sons of George Henry Lafetra and Sarah Lafetra, née Doan, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown , Connecticut in 1891 . He dedicated himself in the wake of the study of medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, which he in 1894 with the promotion to Doctor of Medicine graduated (MD).

Linnaeus Edford La Fetra married Annie Edith Parsons from Toronto , Canada on June 8, 1899 . The marriage had the daughter Helen (Mrs. Louis Lee Stanton). He died in 1965 at the age of 97. He found his final resting place in Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan , Connecticut.

Professional background

Linnaeus Edford La Fetra was employed as an intern and house surgeon (House Surgeon) at the New York Hospital until 1896 . He then completed a one-year internship at Sloan Maternity Hospital. In 1897 he took a position as a physician at Nursery and Childs' Hospital, which he resigned the following year. Linnaeus Edford La Fetra ran his own practice in New York City since 1898 . In addition, he was employed from 1902 to 1920 as an Associate in Diseases of Children at Columbia University and from 1911 to 1920 as Director of Children's Medical Service at Bellevue Hospital. In 1920 he was appointed Professor of Diseases of Children at the New York Post Graduate Medical School before resigning in 1928.

Linnaeus Edford La Fetra, one of the leading paediatricians in the United States of his time, also served as editor of the Archives of Pediatrics and from 1917 to 1918 as president of the American Pediatric Society. He was a member of the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
