The Linowsee is a small natural lake in the district of Streganz , a district of the municipality of Heidesee (Dahme-Spreewald district, Brandenburg).

Geography and hydrography

The Linowsee is by and large a round lake, which lies completely on the district of Streganz, a district of the municipality of Heidesee. The lake was first mentioned in a document in 1514 ( the lein lake ). In 1659 it is called Sehe der Linow and in 1674 on the Linow See . The Urmes table sheet 3749 Storkow from 1844 lists it as Linow See . The name can be derived from an alpb. Basic form * Linov- =, to * lin = Schlei, is to be interpreted as Schleisee.

In 1995 the Linowsee and the neighboring, former Dutzendsee (today silting moor) became part of the Linowsee-Dutzendsee nature reserve , which covers a total of 60 hectares.
