The Linsley Peninsula is a wide and roughly rectangular peninsula on the north coast of Thurston Island off the Eights coast of West Antarctica Ellsworthland . It protrudes into the southern part of Murphy Inlet .
The peninsula was first mapped using aerial photographs taken during Operation Highjump (1946–1947) carried out by the United States Navy . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1972 after Lieutenant Commander Richard G. Linsley, pilot of a Lockheed C-130 Hercules to support geological crews for the United States Antarctic Research Program on Thurston Island between 1968 and 1969.
