Lisa Hofmaninger

Lisa Hofmaninger (* 1991 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( soprano saxophone , bass clarinet , composition ).

Life

Hofmaninger attended the music high school in Linz before studying jazz saxophone with Florian Bramböck and Harry Sokal at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz . During her master’s degree, which followed until 2017, she completed a semester abroad in Paris.

During her studies at Hofmaninger she was one of the woodwind players in the Chufffdrone quintet , for which she also composed and with whom she performed worldwide (2019 at the INNtöne Jazz Festival and the Moers Festival ; album 2015). With Judith Schwarz and Matteo Haitzmann she founded the 13-member band collective Little Rosies Kindergarten ; In the trio First Gig Never Happened , she interprets with Schwarz and Alexander Fitzthum mainly own arrangements by Thelonious Monk and Charles Mingus ; she also worked in a duo with the drummer Judith Schwarz. Since 2017 she has been part of Gina Schwarz 'project Pannonica (album 2020); there she also appeared with Ingrid Jensen , Sylvie Courvoisier , Karin Hammar , Camila Meza , Angelika Niescier and Julia Hülsmann . She is also active in other formations such as the Klangzeug Orchester quartet , the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra , the OÖ Youth Symphony Orchestra , the OÖ Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Think Bigger Orchestra. Christian Muthspiel brought her to his Orjazztra Vienna , with which she opened the Saalfelden International Jazz Festival in 2019 . She was also the curator of the “TVÅ” concert series in Vienna from 2014–2015.

Prizes and awards

In 2011, Hofmainger was the winner of the Marianne Mendt Young Jazz Talent Promotion; In 2013 she received the Bawag PSK Next Generation Jazz Award with “chuffDRONE” . For the 2018/19 season she received the promotion award The New Austrian Sound of Music with the trio "First Gig Never Happened" and for the 2020/2021 season with the duo Hofmaninger / Schwarz.
