In Dinard on the Breton coast, the publishing editor Laura spends a few days with her lover Christian. When she enters the dining room of the hotel, the older guest Frédéric Dautin is surprised: Laura is a doppelganger of his former wife Lise. In 1943 Lise was arrested by the Gestapo and abducted. Frédéric approaches Laura. When he visits the former house from Lise's childhood with her, the old landlady Marthe Scouarnec is surprised by Laura's striking resemblance to Lise. Frédéric entrusts Laura Lise's diaries. Lise had met Frédéric on Dinard Beach. The 18-year-old girl, who comes from a humble background, feels intimidated by Frédéric's noble family. In order to meet their demands, she takes on the role of the wife and mother of a young boy. When she was supposed to deliver a dossier for the Resistance, she was arrested by the Gestapo. In contrast to Lise, Laura is emancipated. In flashbacks we see how she leaves her husband and is very relaxed with her next three lovers before Christian. Laura is captivated by reading Lisa's diaries.
Emergence
At the side of Claude Jade, who plays two roles, the young actor Bernard Malaterre acts in the flashbacks, who himself bears a great resemblance to the older actor of Frédéric, Michel Auclair.
