Lisel Brandt-Winkle (born May 26, 1914 in Lichtenwald, Lower Styria , today: Sevinca, Slovenia , † December 20, 2006 in Grünwald ) was a landscape and portrait photographer.

Life

After her training from 1933 to 1935 at the Bavarian State School for Photography (most recently: State Academy for Photo Design Munich , Munich Photo School for short) she worked in the Atelier Eduard von Wasow and the Atelier Scherdel. From 1939 she taught at the Munich School of Photography. For family reasons, she gave up her job in 1944 and worked as a freelancer for numerous magazine and book publishers until the early 1960s. In old age she turned to reverse glass painting .

Due to her sociability and her closeness to nature, she distinguished herself early on in the fields of portrait and landscape photography. Her recordings of children, in particular, were widely published by magazine publishers. Since her husband, Friedl Brandt, was one of the most important Munich mountaineers of the 1930s (e.g. Matterhorn north face conquerors Franz and Toni Schmid ), she took impressive pictures on joint, demanding ski and climbing tours in the high mountains of deserted snow deserts and majestic rock domes. A woman in the high mountains was rather the exception back then. For photos from their long-distance trips, e.g. B. to Sicily (1955) and Andalusia (1956), it was images of landscape and people that publishers liked to access. Despite the sometimes adverse circumstances on her excursions, she always attached great importance to the high level of craftsmanship in her recordings. She was a member of the Society of German Photographers (GDL).
