List of architectural monuments in Herzogenaurach
The monuments of the Middle Franconian city of Herzogenaurach are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority. This list reflects the update status from September 5, 2014 and contains 133 monuments.
Ensembles
Herzogenaurach old town
The ensemble encompasses the urban area within the limits of its second, extended walling in the 15th century. The core of Aurach (Uraha), first mentioned in 1002 and since 1021 in Bamberg, is a royal court that can be assumed to replace the church district. The city itself arose next to it, possibly as the foundation of the Dukes of Andechs-Meranien (Herzogen-) in the first half of the 13th century. It is a street market that runs parallel to the river. The main street, which curves slightly from gate to gate, is at the level of Badgasse, extended to the north by the rectangular market square rising on a slope, on the north side of which there was a third city gate, which is no longer available today. The founding of the 13th century has a regular, long-striped plot structure on both sides of the street market. It forms the present-day town center and, delimited by the two late medieval gate towers, represents an urban dominant feature. In addition to the market area, the churchyard with the parish church and the Bamberg official castle, which was probably built at the same time as the market, were self-fortified districts. Both are elevated on the slope, the church on a specially supported terrace. The new walling of the 15th century, which expanded the urban area, was limited to the inclusion of the suburbs that had grown in the meantime along the thoroughfare and an existing side street (Hintere Gasse) which bypassed the market to the north. The new site was not arranged in terms of planning so that, in contrast to the inner founding city, there is no regular plot structure here. By including the road to Ansbach (Steggasse) that had previously branched off to the west of the city, the city became a Viertorestadt. The city center has a closed row of stately rural houses . According to the original arrangement, the properties consisted of the front building, a narrow connecting building leading to the rear and the farm building that blocked off the property at the rear (now often disrupted, preserved at Hauptstrasse 21). The development in the extension area is more open, with smaller rural properties and craftsmen's houses predominating here. The townscape is strongly characterized by half-timbered houses in the style of the 17th and 18th centuries, mostly over an older core, condensed with buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses of the 17th century are gabled, those of the 18th century with a half-timbered upper storey above a massive ground floor, often with a dwarf building characteristic of the location in the central axis. The historical development is relatively dense in the core city, in the expansion area it has been broken up by renovations and new buildings. The parish church from the 14th century, which was renovated on a medieval basis in the early 18th century and redesigned in 1940 in keeping with the local style, free-standing on the market square and the former hospital building from the early 16th century are to be mentioned as public monumental buildings. City fortifications
The first fortification with a ditch from the church terrace around the core city and the castle to the north of it was built around 1300. Of this, the eastern Fehnturm and the western Türmersturm have been preserved. The fortification was expanded in 1409 by order of the Bamberg bishop. For this purpose, a second wall ring was drawn around the church terrace and parts of the suburb around 1450. After being damaged by acts of war and pillage, it was rebuilt in the 17th century. In 1802 the two gates attached to the towers were put down. The extended fortification wall of the 15th century can only be seen in low remaining sections: on the north side along Am Hirtengraben and in houses Am Rahmberg, on the east side piece by piece along Am Rahmberg and between Reytherstrasse and the airport, on the south side in fragments in a few back buildings of Property built on the main street, and on the west side it closes in the area of the town mill. Rectangular fortification towers seem to continue to live in residential buildings, for example at the northwest and northeast corners and Am Hallertürlein, the rest of a small round tower is in the area of the town mill. Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
