geography

The parish village of Niederndorf and Herzogenaurach to the east form a closed settlement. In the east it borders directly on Neuses , a district of the city of Erlangen . The Middle Aurach , a left tributary of the Regnitz, runs along the southern edge . The Eichholzbächlein flows past in the east and flows into the Aurach in the south. The Weiheräcker corridor area borders in the northeast, and the monastery forest is even further northeast. In the south, the container mountain ( 327  m above sea level ) and the Stockberg ( 321  m above sea level ) rise .

history

During the second Franconian settlement wave in the 9th century, the place was planned as a village on two important trade routes . The place was first mentioned in documents in 1339. The bishopric of Bamberg was the feudal lord . Since the beginning of the 15th century, the fiefs were predominantly from Nuremberg patricians , as well as the Frauenaurach monastery .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 27 properties and a community shepherd's house in Niederndorf. The high court exercised the Bamberg center office Herzogenaurach . The village and township government had the box office Herzogenaurach held. The landlords were the caste office in Herzogenaurach (2 half yards, 3 estates, 7 estates), the Brandenburg-Bayreuth monastery office in Frauenaurach (1 courtyard, 2 estates), the Nuremberg hospital office (1 estate), Nuremberg owners ( von Kreß : 2 estates, von Scheurl : 3 estates), the manor Wilhermsdorf (1 yard) and the council Herzogenaurach (4 estates).

In 1810 Niederndorf came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the place was assigned to the Herzogenaurach tax district formed in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818), the rural community of Niederndorf was formed, to which Lohhof belonged. The administration and jurisdiction of the community of Niederndorf was subordinate to the regional court of Herzogenaurach and the financial administration to the Erlangen rent office . In the voluntary jurisdiction, three properties were subordinate to the Barons von Scheurl (until 1820), one property to the Barons von Kreß (until 1839) and two properties to the Wilhermsdorf Patrimonial Court (until 1839). On October 1, 1847, the financial management was taken over by the Rentamt Herzogenaurach . From 1862, Niederndorf was administered by the Höchstadt an der Aisch district office (renamed the Höchstadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ) and continued by the Herzogenaurach Rent Office (1920–1929: Herzogenaurach tax office , from 1929: Erlangen tax office ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Herzogenaurach until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Herzogenaurach , from 1959 district court of Erlangen . The municipality had an area of 6.133 km².

Originally, Niederndorf was a purely farming village. When at the end of the 19th century many could no longer live from the income, they went to the mason trade. Since then, Niederndorf has also been known as the “bricklayer village”. The local railway, which opened in 1894, ensured growth. So after the First World War a new settlement was built west of Lohhofer Straße. After the Second World War, the influx of many expellees in the north resulted in another settlement.

On May 1, 1978, Niederndorf was incorporated into the city of Herzogenaurach as part of the regional reform .
