Burgstall is a district of the city of Herzogenaurach in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Litzelbach flows through the village , which is a right tributary of the Schleifmühlbach , which in turn flows into the Middle Aurach not far to the north as a right tributary . A golf course is adjacent to the northeast and east. Otherwise, the place is immediately surrounded by arable land and grassland with isolated trees. In the northwest the field is called Birkenberg, in the west Steinbachäcker and in the south Holzäcker. In the southeast lies the Burgwald, approx. 0.5 km in the southwest lies the Langenhofenwald.

A community road runs to Steinbach (1.5 km northwest) or via Hauptendorf to Niederndorf to state road 2263 (2.4 km northeast). Other community roads lead to Tuchenbach for county road FÜ 8 (2,4 km south-west) and after Herzogenaurach (1 km north). The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1348 in the Bamberg Urbar . Presumably it was laid out in the 11th century as a noble seat by Bamberg ministers . There are still remnants of the former castle that were built into a house. In addition to the aristocratic residence, a settlement was built, originally consisting of three courtyards. Nuremberg patricians soon had claims in the place. Konrad Groß had tithe rights, which were transferred to the Nuremberg Heilig-Geist-Spital . In 1476 a Hieronymus Kreß was mentioned who was enfeoffed with half a court. In the 15th century the patricians Groland and Pfinzing were also mentioned as fiefs.

At the end of the 18th century there were 13 properties in Burgstall. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach city bailiff Langenzenn . The village and community rulership was held by the Bamberg office of Herzogenaurach . The landlords were the Amt Herzogenaurach (1 half yard, 2 estates, 1 shepherd's house), the parish Herzogenaurach (1 estate), the parish Cadolzburg (1 estate), the manor Heroldsberg (1 estate), the chamber councilor Hofmann Vach (1 estate), the State Office of Alms of the Imperial City of Nuremberg (1 yard), Nuremberg owners: von Behaim (1 estate), von Landherr (1 estate), von Kreß (2 half yards), von Tucher (1 yard).

In 1806 Burgstall came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict , the place was assigned to the Obermichelbach tax district formed in 1808 . In the same year the rural community Burgstall was formed, to which Galgenhof , Hauptendorf , Schleifmühle and Steinbach belonged. The municipality of Burgstall was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Cadolzburg Regional Court and the Cadolzburg Rent Office for financial administration . Four properties were subject to patrimonial courts under voluntary jurisdiction : 1 Attorney PG Boxdorf (1823–1835), 1 Attorney PG Leyh (1823–1835), 1 Attorney PG Lohe (until 1812, 1823–1835), 1 Attorney PG Stein (until 1812, 1823-1848). On September 16, 1832, the municipality was assigned to the Herzogenaurach Regional Court and the Erlangen Rent Office ( and finally also to the Herzogenaurach Rent Office on October 1, 1847 ) after the municipality had submitted an application for reclassification in 1829. From 1862 Burgstall was administered by the district office of Höchstadt an der Aisch (renamed the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in 1938 ) and continued by the rent office of Herzogenaurach (1920–1929: Finanzamt Herzogenaurach , from 1929: Finanzamt Erlangen ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Herzogenaurach until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Herzogenaurach , from 1959 district court of Erlangen . The municipality had an area of 8.032 km².

On July 1, 1972, Burgstall was incorporated into the municipality of Herzogenaurach as part of the regional reform .
