Steinbach is a district of the city of Herzogenaurach in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Krebsbach ( called Schleifmühlbach in the lower reaches ) flows through the village and is a right tributary of the Middle Aurach . The place is immediately surrounded by arable land and grassland with a few trees. In the south the corridor is called Steinbachäcker. The Steinbach Forest is even further south. 200 meters further to the northeast, there is a new development area of ​​Herzogenaurach. A community road runs to Burgstall (1.4 km southeast) or to the district road ERH 14 (0.6 km north) between Dondörflein and Herzogenaurach.

history

The feudal lord in the place was the bishopric of Bamberg . In the Bamberg land register of 1348 two vineyards were mentioned. The fiefs were given to the margraves and the Nuremberg families . Konrad Groß had tithe claims in the village , which were later transferred to the Nuremberg Heilig-Geist-Spital . The patricians of Sündersbühl were the landlords of a farm and a half farm. The fiefdom of the Bamberg Monastery fell back on the death of Johann Orteuefel in 1747.

At the end of the 18th century there were 10 properties in Steinbach. The high court exercised partly the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Fraischvogteiamt Emskirchen-Hagenbüchach , partly the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Cadolzburg . The road was the limit. The village and community rulership was held by the Bamberg office of Herzogenaurach . The landlords were the office of Herzogenaurach (1 yard, 2 estates), the Nuremberg owner von Geuder (6 houses) and the Count von Seinsheim (1 yard).

As part of the community edict, Steinbach was assigned to the Obermichelbach tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community of Burgstall, founded in the same year .

On January 1, 1972, Steinbach was incorporated into the city of Herzogenaurach as part of the regional reform .

The inhabitants were originally Catholic and parish to St. Magdalena (Herzogenaurach) . Since the 19th century at the latest, there have been Evangelical Lutheran residents who were parish to St. Peter and Paul (Münchaurach) , since the 1950s they have been parish in the Evangelical Lutheran parish church (Herzogenaurach) .
