Withdrawal of honorary citizenship

On May 11, 2010, the local council decided to withdraw the honorary citizenship posthumously from the former Wurmlinger pastor Stefan Kruschina, after the Wurmlinger local council unanimously voted in favor. As part of the abuse scandal in the Catholic Church, it became known that Kruschina had "sexually abused and brutally chastised" boys during his time as Wurmlinger pastor from 1953 to 1965 . The “Sexual Abuse” commission set up by Bishop Gebhard Fürst regards the allegations as proven. The pastor, who died in 1991, received honorary citizenship in 1968 from what was then the Wurmlingen community because of services to the Wurmlingen chapel and the community center. After the incorporation of Wurmlingen, honorary citizenship passed to the city of Rottenburg.

Likewise, the council decided to withdraw the former Ergenzinger priest Alfons Leykauf honorary citizenship posthumously on May 12, 2016 as it stated by the Episcopal Commission "Sexual abuse" three girls from the children's home St. Joseph in Gutenzell-Hürbel , Biberach district , several Sexually abused for years. In this case, too, the honorary citizenship was transferred to the city of Rottenburg after the incorporation of Ergenzingen.
