Catholic parish church of St. Joseph | Pfarrstrasse 2 location |
Neo-Gothic basilica from 1899. The first church received its first bell in 1732. Previously it was just a house of prayer at the entrance to today's Herrnstrasse. Thanks to donations from Countess Maria Theresia von Schönborn (the old altar of the Heusenstammer church, a chalice, the monstance and a chasuble as well as the altar painting depicting the church patron St. Joseph), the church slowly gained in importance. It was inaugurated in 1756 by the Mainz suffragan bishop Nebel. Nevertheless, the people of Hausen continued to attend the lamb player service. A solemn early church service was not introduced regularly until 1800. In the years 1897–1898 the construction of the new St. Joseph's Church was pushed ahead. The new sacred building was built in the neo-Gothic style and was able to replace the old church with the first church services at Easter and on White Sunday in 1899. Traces of Hausen's first church can be found in the street names to this day. Kapellenstrasse is reminiscent of the old Hausener church. In 1901 the Josefskirche was consecrated by the then Mainz bishop, Heinrich Brück . It also received an organ that had previously been in the old church in Bieber. | 1728-1732; 1897-1898

The Nikolauskirche has about 600 seats and houses the St. Nicholas bell, cast in 1898, in its tower. In 1917 an organ was bought and in 1923 a second bell was acquired. A bell was melted down during the war. In 1954 a new bell consisting of four bells was installed. The rectory and church were renovated in the 1960s on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the church. | 1910-1912
