Mario Fernandes (born June 21, 1991 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German handball player who played for TV Hüttenberg from the 2009/10 to 2019/20 season before moving to TV Petterweil . Fernandes is a cyclist .

Life

Mario Fernandes began playing handball in 1996 in his hometown at TV 1901 Ober-Mörlen . Fernandes came to TV Hüttenberg after the B-youth over the intermediate station as a youth player at the HSG Dutenhofen / Münchholzhausen . There he was able to make his debut in the 2nd Handball Bundesliga South in the 2009/10 season . In his second season Fernandes was able to achieve second place with TV Hüttenberg and thus the relegation for the handball Bundesliga . There the promotion to the handball Bundesliga could be made perfect against the GWD Minden . Although he received little playing time at the end of the 2010/2011 season, his contract was extended to 2013. At the beginning of the 2011/2012 season, Fernandes received a second game right for the third division team HSG Pohlheim . After relegation from the 1st handball league, he continued to play for TV Hüttenberg in the 2nd division until the team was unable to prevent relegation to the 3rd division in 2015. Nevertheless, Fernandes has extended his contract with the Central Hesse for the 3rd division. At the end of the 2015/16 season, the circle runner managed to return immediately to the 2nd Bundesliga with the TVH and only one year later to promotion to the 1st handball Bundesliga .

Mario Fernandes obtained the general university entrance qualification at the St. Lioba Gymnasium in Bad Nauheim in 2010 . In the winter semester 2010/2011 he has the course "Physical Activity and Health" at the University of Giessen started and completed in the summer term 2013 with the Bachelor. He then began studying economics, also at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. He also successfully completed this with a bachelor's degree in the 2016 summer semester, followed by a master’s degree in business administration in the 2018 summer semester. He is currently doing his doctorate at the finance department at Justus Liebig University.

At the end of the 2019/20 season, Fernandes left TV Hüttenberg after a two-year tenure as captain and eleven years in the first men's team to take some handball skills and continue to devote himself to his doctorate. Then Fernandes joined the upper league promoted TV Petterweil.
