Detailed memorial texts

  1. Triangulation column on the Raumberg
Inscription facing south "STATION / RAUMBURG / DER / KÖN: SÄCHS: / TRIANGULIRUNG / 1865.", Traced with white paint (except for the final point after the year), the formerly chiseled "KÖN." Has been reworked , the lower ring of the cover plate is also painted white, there are no height bolts, further incisions in the column, there are no visual connections to neighboring points due to the vegetation. The Raumberg station was built in August 1865 on the highest peak of the Raumberg on the Kirnitzsch near Hinterhermsdorf . The Royal Saxon State Fiscus owned the property. In this remote region of Saxon Switzerland , the station has been completely preserved. The still existing round stone cover plate is unique. In the period from 1862 to 1890, a land survey was carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony , in which two triangular networks were formed. On the one hand, there is the network for grade measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony (network I. class / order) with 36 points and the royal Saxon triangulation (network II. Class / order) with 122 points. This national survey was led by Prof. Christian August Nagel , according to which the triangulation columns are also referred to as "Nagelsche columns". This surveying system was one of the most modern layer networks in Germany. The surveying columns set for this purpose remained almost entirely in their original locations. They are an impressive testimony to the history of land surveying in Germany and in Saxony. The system of surveying columns of both orders is in its entirety a cultural monument of supraregional importance.
  2. Youth Recreation Home Ottendorf - In 1927 the Society of Saxon Youth Recreation Homes was founded in Dresden, which took on the task of preparing young people who were no longer required to attend school and in need of recreation, mentally and physically, for working life as part of a recreational stay. With the support of trade unions, health insurances and social security associations, the first Saxon youth rest home was built in rural surroundings on a hilltop near Sebnitz in 1928/29. With its central dining and ballroom, the courtyard facade of which is reminiscent of a temple front, the factual, rational design by the Dresden architect Kurt Bänke shows a strong formal reference to the Hellerau festival theater by Heinrich Tessenow . In the execution were u. a. Bauhütte Dresden, the building contractor Ernst Grohmann and Dyckerhoff & Widmann AG are involved. In front of the central hall building, two symmetrical, two-storey wing buildings with arcades form a U-shaped inner courtyard that opens to the east. To the west, the complex is supplemented by a supply wing with a water tower. Both the home and the farmyard are surrounded by low parapet walls and, as self-contained communal areas, contrast with the extensive surrounding landscape. The building offered a total of 160 girls and boys (four groups of 20 people each) and should contribute to community building with its functional, harmonious design. Taking modern hygiene standards into account, the central water supply of the building complex played a major role, for which the slim, towering water tower with a flat steel water tank, which was fed with drinking water from the valley, provided. It also housed a photo laboratory and offered a view of the surrounding area on its flat roof terrace. The functionality of the design continues inside. Clearly structured structures for the groups harmonize with a simple but functional design. The washrooms are arranged in the basement, each with three heptagonal, fountain-like washbasins. The ground floor contained the day rooms and common rooms, such as the library and writing room. The dormitories were set up on the upper floor and could only be separated into individual bunks with the help of curtains. With its landscape-defining design, the youth home is an important representative of classical modernism in Saxony and at the same time one of the main works of the architect Kurt Bänke. It is therefore of particular importance in terms of architectural and regional history. Its function as the first Saxon youth sanctuary also gives it a socio-historical significance. (LfD / 2017).
  3. History of the Buschmühle: Known as a board mill since the 16th century, around 1710 also Mahlmühle, 1780/85 fire, until 1821 only Mahlmühle / Lohstampfe, subsequently reinstalled cutting gear. Operation as a grinding mill and sawmill, from around 1800 also right to produce brandy. Refreshments for hikers and carters, from 1845 small farms, in the 1870s an attempt to produce wood pulp . Around 1900 expansion of the mill for tourism, ten guest rooms set up in the side building. 1924 installation of a locomotive, grinding mill modernized after the Second World War: installation of roller mills and 1948 construction of the storage facility, drive of the mill and the sawmill via water wheel (diameter 5 m, width 1.60 m), electric motor and partly also locomobile, 1990 / 91 Cessation of grinding operations (most recently fodder meal), tourism only, 2010 flood damage, extensive renovation.
  4. Neumannmühle - technical systems: water technology systems (undershot water wheel (copy), mill ditch with regulation, weir), wood grinder (from approx. 1869), bucket wheel, refiner, fine sorter, settling basin (outdoors), single-blade saw gate, round sieve dewatering machine, Venetian saw (vertical wooden Single blade saw), transmission and gear technology. Basement: No basement, but the rest of a cellar vault to the rock slope at ground floor level - made of sandstone blocks and partially driven into the rock. Ground floor: foundation plinth made of sandstone blocks, also the walls, window openings in the same format. In the lintel of the front door, "Number 68" is carved in fine script. Upper floor: Rough half-timbered beams on the outside, footsteps partially repaired with plaster and painted as a wooden part, the north-western third of the house is solid, rear house access via a small bridge from the rock platform (above the ground floor cellar). Roof: rafter construction, covered with Eternit panels. History: Mentioned in the 16th century, owned by the (Joseph) Neumann family since 1791 (called Seph-Mühle around 1800), installation of a wood grinding system in 1869/70, also used as a sawmill (board mill), in operation until 1945, 1951 Monument, until 1969 conversion to a museum display object for paper production according to the wood pulp method, repairing the, 1990/91 repair work of the water and wood processing systems, on the gable of the extension (sawmill) of the roof, water drainage of the mill ditch renewed, repair, entire house inside Totally modernized in 1996/97 for accommodation purposes.
