List of palaces in Bratislava
The list of palaces in Bratislava includes both existing and already demolished palaces in Bratislava . A large part of the palaces is located in the historic city center, the Staré Mesto .
Numerous palaces were built by the old Austrian and Hungarian nobility, and there are also a large number of palace-like buildings. As a result of the chaos of war , but also in the communist era, dilapidated palaces were torn down and the gaps filled with new buildings.
The list is structured as follows:
- Name: As many palaces had changing owners, they are often known by different names, which is why double names are sometimes used. The order of the names is then based on the chronology of ownership. If an owner had several palaces that do not have a double name, the street name is used to distinguish them.
- Address: Address of the palace. With the exception of the former Palais Berchtold in the Nové Mesto district (see below), all the palaces listed here are in the Staré Mesto district.
- Year of construction: The year of completion is given under construction year. Since many palaces have been rebuilt or renovated several times, the year always refers to the initial state. The year of demolition is given for former palaces .
- Architect: The architect responsible for the first execution is always named as the architect.
- Style: Only main styles are given and no more detailed classification (e.g. historicism and not neo-renaissance).
- Note: Further information about the palace, e.g. B. today's use.
