List of the planning departments of the city of Frankfurt am Main
The list of the planning departments of the city of Frankfurt am Main chronologically lists the politicians who were or are currently responsible for urban planning and construction in Frankfurt am Main . As political officials elected by the city council (local council) for six years, they belong to the magistrate , i.e. the local council. Your party affiliation is noted in the table. They are also dubbed a city council . You head the department for planning and are usually at least responsible for town planning, building supervision and surveying, sometimes also for other tasks such as building construction , traffic , properties and monument preservation .
In the past, responsibilities have changed again and again, and tasks have been adapted to the requirements of the respective epochs. The mayor has according Hessian Municipal Code the right to assign their tasks the city councils. For example, in the post-war period, the disposal of rubble or in the 1960s the construction of the subway were separate areas of responsibility. In addition to the head of the planning department, there were also other city councils who were responsible for construction or transport.
Since more and more tasks of the city administration have been outsourced to urban companies, the department heads are responsible for the companies in addition to the responsibility for the respective offices. In the case of planning, these are for example: Housing company ABG Frankfurt Holding, Messe Frankfurt GmbH and numerous others.
