List of Pokémon Movies
Pokémon films , all produced in Japan, have been released since 1998 . The films are mainly about the story of one or more legendary Pokémon , for example Mewtwo, Mew, Celebi, Manaphy, Giratina, Diancie or the most powerful of all Pokémon, Arceus.
The first three films were shown in German cinemas and were released on VHS and subsequently also on DVD. From the fourth to the seventh part, the films were only released on DVD in Europe. Pokémon 8 and Pokémon 9 , on the other hand, were only shown on television. Since the tenth film, DVDs have been available again alongside TV broadcasts.

A new film has been released in Japanese cinemas every year since 1998. The Pokémon films and Animés are joint productions by Shōgakukan , its subsidiary Shūeisha and TV Tokyo . Of The Pokémon Company , a company with the name was Pikachu Project spun off. Pikachu Project describes both a company for the production of an animation project and (with a year) the actual production. For example, the first film is called Pikachu Project '98 . The Pikachu Project staff also work on the Animés.
The films usually play after the end of the previous anime season ; the plot of the first film begins towards the end (The Battle for the Earth Order) of season 1, while the plot of Pokémon 2 begins after the finale of season 2 on the Orange Islands.
The first Pokémon feature film was shown in Japan on July 18, 1998 . After the TV series was also a great success in the USA, the first film was released on November 12, 1999 in American and in April 2000 in German cinemas. It was also very successful in Germany and in 2000 became the sixth most successful film of the year. The first Pokémon movie is one of the most successful anime films of all time, grossing $ 163.64 million worldwide.
The second film was titled Pokémon 2 - The Power of the Individual in the cinemas and the third film Pokémon 3 - Under the Spell of the Unknown was released in June 2001.
The fourth film, on the other hand, was more than two years long in Germany. It was published in August 2003 under the title Pokémon 4 - The Timeless Encounter . The fifth film, Pokémon Heroes - The Film, followed in May 2004 . After three years of waiting, Pokémon 6 - Jirachi Wishmaker was released on May 14, 2007 in Germany. Pokémon 7 - Destiny Deoxys , the seventh Pokémon film, was released on September 3, 2007.
On December 6, 2007, the eighth Pokémon film, thus the third film in the Advanced Generation series, Pokémon 8 - Lucario and the Secret of Mew, was broadcast on RTL II. The ninth film as well as the PMD special and a rerun of the eighth feature film were shown on July 9 and 10, 2008. The tenth film was shown in December 2008 and the eleventh came on German television just 4 ½ months later. The twelfth film was released in Japan on July 18, 2009 in cinemas and was broadcast in Germany in April 2010 on RTL II.
The 13th film, which was released in Japanese cinemas on July 10, 2010, was broadcast in Germany on April 15 on Disney XD (pay TV) and on April 21, 2011 on RTL II (free TV). The 14th film was released in Japanese cinemas on July 16, 2011 and followed in Germany on March 31 and April 1 on Disney XD and on April 8 and 15, 2012 on RTL II.
