Fabio Herbert Kaufmann (born September 8, 1992 in Aalen ) is a German - Italian soccer player .

Life

Kaufmann's family runs a car dealership in the Aalen district of Dewangen . He was connected to VfR Aalen from an early age through his family : his grandfather was the club's manager in the 1970s, his father was a player in the second team. He himself was later on at home games as a ball boy and accompanied the team to away games.

At the age of six, Kaufmann took part in the Zecchino d'Oro with the song Un cuoricino in più . He graduated from high school in Aalen in 2012 and then completed a voluntary social year in Ulm.

Career

Kaufmann began his footballing career in 2001 in the youth department of the then third division club VfR Aalen with the G-Juniors ("Bambinis") and worked in the various youth teams in the following years. As a member of the B-Youth he was occasionally used in the A-Juniors' games. In order to play higher class, he finally moved to the A-youth of SSV Ulm 1846 in 2009 , which played in the second German junior league, the U19-Oberliga. With the team he reached promotion to the U19 Bundesliga in his first year . In the highest German junior league he played in the 2010/11 season as a regular against the youth teams of the first and second division, but could not achieve relegation with the team and rose at the end of the season with nine points behind a non-relegation place back in the U19 league from.

At the same time, Kaufmann also came to the first men's team of SSV Ulm in 1846 on two missions in the Regionalliga, in which he was each on the starting line-up, but was replaced both times in the second half. The men's team rose at the end of the season in the fifth-class league . There, the midfielder was able to establish himself as a regular player under coach Paul Sauter in the following season 2011/12 and contributed to the team's direct resurgence with four goals and five assists. In the new league, Kaufmann was able to improve again in the following 2012/13 season, scoring nine goals himself and preparing two more.

After his contract with Ulm expired in the summer of 2013, he returned to VfR Aalen, which signed him for his professional team under coach Stefan Ruthenbeck , which is now in the 2nd Bundesliga . Kaufmann had his first second division appearance on the second match day of the new season when he was substituted on in the match against Bundesliga relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth . After relegating to the third division with VfR Aalen at the end of the 2014/15 season , Kaufmann moved to Energie Cottbus in summer 2015 . At Energie Cottbus he played all 38 season games in the third division in the 2015/16 season. The season ended with the relegation for Cottbus. The next season he played in the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Erzgebirge Aue . On January 25, 2018, the third division team Würzburger Kickers signed the clubless businessman. With the club he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the 2019/20 season . Kaufmann himself scored 14 goals this season and was also the best assists in the league with 12 assists.
