In the area of non-fiction , the following prizes are awarded for non-fiction books in German-speaking countries :
- 1975-2016 Donauland Nonfiction Award Danubius , book price of the book club Donauland , from 2000 together with the ORF awarded
- German Non-Fiction Prize , from the German Library Association , endowed with DM 10,000, donated by the City of Oldenburg
- Since 1982 The Political Book , Literature Prize of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation
- Since 1984 Historical Nonfiction Award Schloss Burg on the Wupper in Solingen awarded
- Since 2003 historical non-fiction prize of the Vereinigung der Heimatfreunde am Mittelrhein eV , total endowment: 900 €
- Since 2005 Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair / Non-Fiction and Essay Writing
- Since 2006 the German Garden Book Prize , awarded by Schloss Dennenlohe
- Since 2009 the NDR culture non-fiction book award
- Since 2011, the prize Opus Primum the Volkswagen Foundation , together with the NDR Kultur Sachbuchpreis is awarded
- The Emys Non-Fiction Prize has been awarded in Potsdam since 2013
- Since 2019 " Knowledge! Non-fiction Prize for the Humanities " from the Scientific Book Society
According to an announcement made in May 2019 by the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels , there will be a new German non-fiction prize from 2020 . The main sponsor is the Deutsche Bank Foundation . Has been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
