Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair / non-fiction and essay writing
Winner and nominated authors for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the non-fiction / essay category . The award has been presented at the Leipzig Book Fair since 2005 . University publications and published works are excluded from the price. The award is endowed with 15,000 euros for the award-winning author, with an additional 1,000 euros for each nominee (as of 2019).
Award winners
Works by authors with German citizenship were awarded the most awards (14 victories), followed by Israel ( Saul Friedländer ) and Austria ( Franz Schuh ). So far, no writer has won the award more than once. For every two nominations Götz Aly (2005 and 2013), Lothar Müller (2012 and 2019) and Ulrich Raulff (2010 and 2016) came, but only Raulff could win the award once.
The publisher with the most award winners is CHBeck (five wins), followed by Rowohlt (three awards) and Berlin Verlag (two successes).
