Klaus Reichert (English studies)
Klaus Manfred Karl Reichert (born May 22, 1938 in Fulda ) is a German English scholar , translator , poet and essayist .
Life
After graduating from high school in Gießen, Reichert studied philosophy and languages in Marburg , London , Gießen and Frankfurt am Main . From 1964 to 1968 he worked as a publisher's editor, from 1975 to 2003 he taught as a professor for English studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. In 1993 he founded the Center for Research into the Early Modern Age at Goethe University and was its managing director until 2006. From 2002 to 2011 he was President of the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt. Reichert was the editor of the work edition (Collected Works) by Virginia Woolf in S. Fischer Verlag . He is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
Klaus Reichert stood with his book Cloud Service. Figures of the fugitive on the shortlist for the Leipzig Book Fair 2017 award .
