Sketch of the location of the districts of Bottrop

The article here lists all the peasant communities, districts, statistical districts and districts of the urban district of Bottrop . First, a historical overview is sketched and then in the main chapter today's urban area is clearly divided into today's sub-units. Bottrop is initially divided into Alt-Bottrop in the south and the independent municipality of Kirchhellen in the north until 1975 . These are divided into a total of 17 nominal districts, 7 of which are in the Kirchheller area.

At the same time, the city is divided into 17 statistical districts, which vary significantly in terms of the number of inhabitants, of which only 4 are in Kirchhellen. The more densely populated districts comprise several statistical districts, while the more sparsely populated districts form a statistical district. In individual cases, statistical districts and city districts are neither super- nor sub-units of one another or the boundaries differ, see section on the deviations .

As an independent city , Bottrop is obliged to form at least three city districts . Kirchhellen forms its own district, Alt-Bottrop is divided into two districts. The old Bottrop city districts each comprise roughly three or seven of the city districts, but the demarcation here differs significantly from those of the statistical districts and city districts.

Historical breakdown and overview

Bottrop and Kirchhellen belonged to Vest Recklinghausen for centuries and then to the Recklinghausen district . Together with Osterfeld (now part of Oberhausen), they formed the Bottrop mayor's office from 1816 , from which the Bottrop Office emerged in 1844 .

Map of the German Empire 1: 100,000 of today's Bottrop area at the end of the 19th century

Alt-Bottrop

The municipality Bottrop included, in addition to the nucleus, from time immemorial, the following farming communities (clockwise):

  • Fuhlenbrock in the northwest
  • Eigen (formerly Schlangenholt ) in the north
  • Batenbrock in the east
  • Boy (formerly: Boyer ) in the extreme east-northeast
  • Mud hollow in the south
  • Vonderort in the southwest

In the East was formed around the living space house Welheim the district Welheim on Boyer and Baten brokerage area. To the south of Welheim, in the area of the former Borbecker Mark in what is now the border area to Essen , lies today's Welheimer Mark district and, to the west of it, today's Ebel district . Parts of the earlier expansion of the Vonderort peasantry now belong to Oberhausen .

Kirchhellen

As a result of the incorporation of the northern neighboring community of Kirchhellen (for a short-lived, further expansion, see Glabotki ), which was completed in 1975, the area of the urban area doubled or even grew by 138%.

With Kirchhellen, in addition to the core town, the following farmers were added (clockwise the location relative to Kirchheller core town):

  • Holthausen in the south and west
  • Hardinghausen in the northwest
  • Disgust in the far north
  • Overhagen in the east
  • Feldhausen in the far east

Feldhausen was the only peasantry that, like Kirchhellen, had a core village. In the meantime, however, Grafenwald , in the south of the former Holthausen area and immediately north of Alt-Bottrop, is the second largest district of the Kirchheller suburban area after Kirchhellen-Mitte.

Limit deviations between city districts and statistical districts

In the following areas, statistical districts and city districts are neither super- nor sub-units of each other or the boundaries differ:

  • The 0.19 km² northwest part of the Quellenbusch health park (northwest of Osterfelder Straße ) is located in the statistical district 12 South-West , Über-District 1 "Stadtmitte" , but belongs to the Vonderort district , which is otherwise in the statistical district 62 South of the Über district 6 is “south” .
  • The 1.55 km² eastern half of the Welheimer Mark district (building block group 525) belongs to the statistical district 52 Welheim , Über-Bezirk 5 “Boy” , while the rest of the Welheimer Mark belongs to 61 Ebel / Welheimer Mark in 6 “South” .
  • In the Kirchhellen district, the statistical districts generally differ from the districts, see also the subdivision there :
    • The statistical district 72 Kirchhellen-Süd / Grafenwald includes the Grafenwald district to the north-east and the 2.12 km² high Heide in the extreme southwest of Overhagen (southwest of Rentforter Strasse and Brabecker Weg ) and the 0.46 km² triangle immediately south the Lehmschlenke , district of Holthausen .
    • With a total of 4.73 km², the statistical district 71 Kirchhellen Mitte is around 1.2 km² larger than the district of the same name. Mainly the statistical district grows in relation to the district:
      • the settlement area in the south-west of Overhagen (0.37 km²) adjoining the core town in the south-east without any recognizable dividing line
      • the industrial area Felsstraße immediately northeast of the eponymous street and north of its western extension Im Pinntal (0.32 km² in the north west of Overhagen and km² and 0.53 km² in the extreme southeast of Hardinghausen)
    • 0.70 km² in the east of Ekels belong to Kirchhellen-Nord-Ost and, conversely, 0.33 km² in the northwest of Overhagen belong to Kirchhellen-Nord-West
    • The statistical district 74 Kirchhellen Nord-Ost can be divided into building block groups in Feldhausen and Overhagen, but in 73 Kirchhellen-Nord-West only Holthausen is clearly separated according to building block groups, while two of the remaining four building block groups can be clearly assigned to Hardinghausen, but the other two contain not only disgust but also considerable parts of Hardinghausen

Boundary deviations between city districts and city districts

The boundaries between the two old Bottrop districts differ significantly from those of the districts, especially in the following areas:

  • In the city center , but in the Bottrop-Süd district, are:
    • the area around the Westfriedhof (0.26 km²)
    • the area between the Altes Südring and Südring (0.05 km²)
    • the area around Karl-Englert-Str. and the northwest of Wortmannstrasse and Gildestrasse (0.19 km²)
    • the comprehensive school and the Max-Schwarze-Weg (0.09 km²)
    • the area between Friedrich-Bitter-Weg (W), Beckheide (O), to the SO to and Scharnhölzstraße (0.12 km²)
  • In the Eigen district , but in the Bottrop-Süd district, are:
    • the area north of Tannenstraße with the part of Bannizastraße east of Kirchschemmsbach (0.25 km²)
    • the north-west of the east cemetery between the Liesenfeldbach in the south-east and the Scharnhölzstraße in the north-west (0.28 km²)
