origin
The name of the district is derived from the nearby Vondern Castle . Today the castle is in the area of the city of Oberhausen .

The Catholic branch church St. Suitbert, in which both Sunday and weekday services take place, belongs to the parish of St. Cyriakus (Bottrop) in the diocese of Essen . The Evangelical Church Community Bottrop in the parish of Gladbeck-Bottrop-Dorsten of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia has a community room in Vonderort in which services are celebrated twice a month.
Infrastructure
In rail transport (SPNV) is in the district breakpoint Bottrop-Vonderort on the railway line Oberhausen Osterfeld-Hamm operated. The station is approached by the RB 44 . - SV Vonderort is the district's football club. In September 2016, the club was in the media nationwide when its second team lost 43-0 to PSV Oberhausen.
- The baseball and softball team Bottrop Blackjacks trains on the SV Vonderorts sports field in summer.

The Vonderort Volunteer Fire Brigade, founded in 1935, is active in Vonderort, Ebel and Lehmkuhle. Other associations are the Bürgererschützenverein Bottrop Vonderort (BSV) and the Catholic workers' movement (KAB).
