List of animal welfare prices in Germany

The list of animal welfare prizes in Germany gives an incomplete overview of animal welfare prizes that are awarded in Germany. If data can be found, the endowment and the first award are noted.

Animal welfare awards from the German federal states

  • Bavaria : Animal Welfare Prize from the Bavarian State Government. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and has been awarded since 2000.
  • Baden-Württemberg : Animal Welfare Award Baden-Württemberg 2015
  • Berlin : Animal Welfare Prize of the State of Berlin: The prize was awarded for the fifth time in 2012. In 2017 the prize was awarded in three categories.
  • Bremen Animal Welfare Prize: the Bremen Animal Welfare Prize has been awarded since 2004; The sixth prize was awarded in 2009.
  • Hessian Animal Welfare Prize: The prize is endowed with 3,000 euros and has been awarded by the Hessian Ministry of the Environment since.
  • There is also the "Hessian School Prize for Animal Welfare", which has been awarded since 2009 and is endowed with a total of 15,000 euros. The prize can be shared, and classes from all non-secondary schools can take part.
  • North Rhine-Westphalia : The animal welfare award was endowed with 10,000 euros in 2009. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2007.
  • Animal Welfare Prize of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate : The prize has been awarded by the State's Ministry of the Environment since 1994. The state is also promoting alternative methods for animal experiments with a research award.
  • Saarland : In Saarland, the Heinz Merkel plaque is awarded by the Saarland Animal Welfare Foundation. The Saarland Youth Animal Welfare Prize has also been awarded since 2015.
  • Saxony: The Johann Georg Palitzsch Medal is awarded in Saxony .
  • Saxony-Anhalt : The Saxony-Anhalt Animal Welfare Prize is awarded every two years by the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of the Environment.
