In December 1948 and May 1949, the representatives of the government of Juan Perón supported the admission of the State of Israel to the United Nations . In February 1949, the Perón government recognized the government of David Ben-Gurion . In May 1949, the governments of Israel and Argentina established diplomatic relations.
