In the 5th / 6th In the 18th century there was a fortified hilltop settlement on the Kappele with an early urban character, handicrafts and trade, of which walls and scanty wall remains are still present. Finds go back to the Urnenfeld and Hallstatt times.

The Gothic choir is marked 1527. The neo-Gothic nave was built from 1866 to 1869; The furnishings are also largely neo-Gothic from the second half of the 19th century. On the south side of the church is a picture of Christ from the 17th century hidden by the sacristy.

In the late Gothic church with the choir shifted south from the axis, the year 1520 is on the triumphal arch; the western Langhausjoch is younger. Wall paintings in the choir and nave date from the first quarter of the 17th century; the bell dates from the 15th century.

The neo-Gothic hall church with its western tower was built between 1882 and 1886. There is a wooden gallery in the four-bay nave. The neo-Gothic altar with richly carved decorations was created according to plans by Theophil Frey; the altarpiece of Ascension Day was painted by Alfred Diethe .
