Until 1533 the church was incorporated into St. Peter's Abbey. From 1769 to 1775 the nave was rebuilt according to the plans of the architect Wolfgang Hagenauer . The church was consecrated in 1800. In 1943 there was a church fire. The church was restored in 1953/1954. The essentially Romanesque tower collapsed in 1945 after the fire in 1943.
