The Roman Catholic parish church of Hallein is located in Hallein in the municipality of Hallein in the district of Hallein in the state of Salzburg . The parish church to the hll. Antonius Eremit und Hieronymus belongs to the dean's office Hallein in the archdiocese of Salzburg . The patronage is celebrated on St. Anthony's Day, January 17th. The church is a listed building .

history

A church was mentioned in documents in 1347. The Gothic choir comes from the medieval church building. Until 1533 the church was incorporated into St. Peter's Abbey. From 1769 to 1775 the nave was rebuilt according to the plans of the architect Wolfgang Hagenauer . The church was consecrated again in 1800 . In the major fire that started in the Augustinian monastery in Hallein on March 22, 1943 , the church and steeple were badly affected, and the Romanesque tower in its core collapsed in 1945. The church was restored in 1953/1954, the new tower was built in 1965 according to plans by the architect Jakob Adlhart .

architecture

The single-nave classical hall building with a Gothic choir has a modern north tower .

Furnishing

The high altar from 1799 with a marble structure was built by Johann Anton Högler. The high altar sheet Adoration of the Shepherds was painted by Andreas Nesselthaler . The side console figures Antonius Eremit and Hieronymus were created by Franz Xaver Nißl . The tabernacle is from 1880. The side altars with marble superstructures were created by Johann Doppler (around 1790).

Organs

Choir organ

The church owned a choir organ until 1879 , Franz Xaver Gruber jun. wrote in 1870: “In the presbytery there is a positive with 4 registers.” The positive was made in 1879 by Dechant (1872–1903) Johann Bap. Moser (born May 25, 1814 in Köstendorf ; † March 12, 1903 in Hallein) sold to Scheffau for 50 guilders .

"Gruber organ"

The organ was created in 1704 and probably came from Christoph Egedacher . The cabinet was made by the Hallein carpenter Jacob Daigl for 80 guilders , in 1707 the cabinet and veil boards were gilded. It had 13 registers on two manuals and a pedal , as with most of Egedacher's organs, the dial of a clock was part of the organ brochure . In 1837 Karl Mauracher expanded the organ to 19 registers, with ten parts for the main work alone. There was no longer enough money for the positive and he only renewed the "worm-eaten flute".

Franz Xaver Gruber was the reigning choir and organist at the parish church in Hallein from 1833 and, “having noticed the organ's defects for a long time”, pursued a reconstruction according to his intentions. He turned u. a. to Matthäus Mauracher , who created a new organ, Gruber did not see its completion in 1864.

In 1962/1963, Dreher & Reinisch changed the Matthäus Mauracher organ fundamentally and built in an electropneumatic action , in 2018 Rieger Orgelbau completely replaced it, only the organ case was retained. The organ consecration took place on November 25, 2018 .
