history

A church was mentioned in documents in 1384. The church was originally one-nave and was converted into a two-aisled or expanded in 1689 by the Salzburg court architect Giovanni Gaspare Zuccalli. During this time, the church tower was also raised. The tower crown, a lantern with an onion dome, was badly damaged after a lightning strike in 1888 and was then given the characteristic pointed tower.

The church was elevated to a parish church in 1856. A restoration took place in 1959/1960.

architecture

The church is raised in the south of the village of Golling. The cemetery surrounds the church in the south and east on a steeply rising level.

The exterior is a closed structure with a gable facade to the west. The baroque aisles on the nave and choir have a straight end. The windows are upright rectangular. In the east, rectangular windows are walled into baroque oval window openings. The choir has a triangular closure with pointed arched windows. At the head of the choir in the east there is an attached two-storey sacristy. The Gothic tower has a baroque bell chamber from 1685 with a pointed gable helmet from 1890. The tower is not structured with a corner squaring and arched sound windows. In the north of the tower there is a niche with a canopy with a baroque mount of olives. The figure of the Madonna and Child by Josef Zenzmaier (1960) stands on the eastern gable . In the tower hall there is a star rib vault on consoles. The west portal shows incised scenes from the Old and New Testaments (1960), the tower hall houses a crucifix (1961), both by Josef Zenzmaier.

Furnishing

The high altar with a wall structure from 1707 has built-in confessionals in the base. The high altar sheet Coronation of Mary with the weather saints Johannes, Paul and Joseph was painted by Josef Rattensperger (1859).

This organ was dismantled in 1877 by Matthäus Mauracher I. in 1877 and replaced by a new instrument. In 1983, Fritz Mertel redesigned the Mauracher organ, including removing the console in favor of a game board and using new pewter prospect pipes.
