After the organ builder Wilhelm Zika sen. (1872-1955) the company Breinbauer in Ottensheim took over in 1921, moved in 1945, the company on the occasion of the restoration of the Bruckner organ in St. Florian's Priory St. Florian. From 1955 his son Wilhelm Zika jun. (1905–1989) the company, which in 1956 was incorporated into the newly founded Upper Austrian Orgelbauanstalt GmbH (Orgelbauanstalt St. Florian), in which Zika held the post of artistic director. In 1972 Helmut Kögler (* 1942) became the owner and managing director of the company, to which he had been a member since 1960.

After Zika's death in 1989, the company was renamed Oberösterreichische Orgelbauanstalt Kögler GmbH . In cooperation with the organ builder Bernhardt Edskes from 1990 the company turned to the historically oriented organ building. In addition to new organs with mechanical grinding chests in the old craft tradition, restorations of historical instruments are carried out. After Helmut Kögler's son Christian (* 1964) was appointed managing director in 2003, the company operates under the name Orgelbau Kögler GmbH . Since then the company has been exporting organs to other European countries.
