history

The parish is a very old parish and mother parish of numerous other parishes in the surrounding area. At times the church was Protestant . The medieval church building burned down in 1846. The new building was built in 1849/1850 by master builder Johann Brenner. In 1959 the exterior of the church was renovated.

Church building

Church exterior

The church is a large classical hall church with pilasters . The retracted choir is closed on three sides. A two-storey tower with an onion helmet rises above the north-facing gable facade .

Church interior

In the vestibule under the tower is a Holy Sepulcher chapel on the left with a tabernacle framed like a backdrop . The nave has three bays. Between the double belt arches , which rest on strong pilasters, there is a square vault . The wall fields under shield arches are deepened. The three-axis gallery has a bulging parapet. The broad triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir. In the choir yoke there is a square vault, in the apse there is a shell vault with stitch caps . HA Brunner painted the wall paintings on the ceiling in 1949. They show scenes from the New Testament .

Furnishing

The furnishings in the form of a "belated baroque" date from the time the church was built. The high altar from 1850 has a richly articulated and gilded tabernacle with putti and angels. The altarpiece hangs on the apse wall in an architectural setting. It shows St. Michael and is by Johann Wilhelm Beyer . To the left and right of the altarpiece there are carved figures on pedestals. On the left you can see St. Anne with Mary , on the right St. Joseph .

The side altars are constructed similarly to the high altar. On the left side of the altarpiece shows a representation of Maria Immaculata , the right side altarpiece shows the Holy Trinity .

Four seated figures of the four evangelists are depicted on the pulpit. The font with a sculptural group of figures was first mentioned in a document in 1867. A copy of the Black Madonna of Częstochowska from the 19th century hangs in the sacristy . In addition, the sacristy contains monastery works with wax medallions, a statue of the Madonna and a representation of St. John Nepomuk from the 18th century.

In 2008, a coordinated solution for the people's altar was found with the architects Pichler & Traupmann and Gustav Schneller .
