The church was built in the 12th century and expanded in the 14th century to include the choir with buttresses, in the 15th century to add side chapels and in the 16th century to add the north tower. The southern transept was demolished in the 18th century; In 1843 more than half of the nave was demolished and replaced by a classicist facade. There are late Gothic frescoes in the Bernhard chapel. More than 50 painted glass panes from the 14th century have been preserved in the choir. The high altar from 1622 is one of the largest in Carinthia. The marble altar from 1710 in the Bernhard Chapel is also noteworthy. |

The prelature is a tower-like three-storey building with Gothic bay windows, which was built at the end of the 15th century as part of the monastery fortifications. Gothic halls with groin vaults are located on the ground floor and in the basement. In the abbot's apartment on the 2nd floor there are stucco ceilings from the beginning of the 18th century. The facade was redesigned in Tudor style in 1778. |

The convent building with a three-sided arcade courtyard was built in the 18th century; the west wing of the convent goes back to a Romanesque monastery building from the 12th century. In the baroque hall (former refectory) there are excellent stucco decorations by Kilian Pittner. In the vaulted library, there are ceiling frescos by Johann Gfall. The southern wing of the convent was extended far to the west, the 36-axis facade is structured by giant pilasters. The Marienbrunnen, built in 1675 by Wilhelm Malle, is in the Marienhof. |
