List of Prussian ambassadors in Poland
The list of Prussian envoys in Poland includes envoys of the Kingdom of Prussia in the royal republic of Poland-Lithuania since the 17th century. Both ordinary ambassadors (residents) and envoys for special occasions are taken into account.
history
The embassy was located in the Brandenburg Palace on Bielańska Street.
Prussian diplomats were sent to Warsaw from the 17th century. Since the official contact with the king initially took place primarily in Dresden , the embassy in Warsaw was of secondary importance until 1764.
The Prussian diplomats in Warsaw were committed to the Protestants in Poland , who had been severely restricted in their rights since 1717. For example, their services and events in Warsaw could temporarily only take place in the Prussian embassy ( Georg Rauss ). Prussia also used this commitment as an opportunity to gain greater influence in the Kingdom of Poland. The Prussian ambassadors in Warsaw played an important role in the partition of Poland from 1772 to 1795.
