Life
family
Eusebius von Brandt was a member of the Brandenburg aristocratic family Brandt and a son of the Brandenburg Privy Councilor, New Mark Chancellor and Director of the New Mark Chamber of Commerce, as well as the heir to Hermsdorf and Wutzig, Christian von Brandt († May 1663) and Gertrud von Rühlicke from the House of Gralow. His brothers were Christoph von Brandt (1630-1691), Brandenburg-Prussian diplomat and statesman, Ludwig von Brandt (1640-1711), Kurbrandenburg-Prussian Privy Council and Chancellor of Neumark, Wilhelm von Brandt (1644-1701), Kurbrandenburg-Prussian Lieutenant General, Governor zu Küstrin and Real Privy Council of War, Friedrich von Brandt, Brandenburg-Prussian Privy Council and envoy, finally Paul von Brandt (1650-1697) Major General of Brandenburg-Prussia. Eusebius married Augusta Elisabeth von Canitz (1659-1722), daughter of Melchior Friedrich Freiherr von Canitz († 1685) in 1681 .
Career
Brandt studied law and theology in Frankfurt from 1660 to 1664 . This was followed by a stay in Posen to deepen the knowledge of the Polish language he had already acquired at home in 1665, which was immediately followed by a cavalier tour of France and England .
In London he was initially put to his brother Christoph's side to learn the diplomatic trade.
In August 1666 he became a chamberlain and in February 1670 resident in Warsaw . From there he was recalled in December, which is in the context of the arrest and repatriation of Christian Ludwig von Kalckstein and the associated protests in Poland . The diplomatic upheavals were considerable; he was only able to return to court in 1672.
Brand was promoted to chief commissioner in 1675, and in 1676 to legation councilor and legation marshal of the Brandenburg embassy in Nijmegen . From 1677 to 1683 he was successively court marshal and court master of the queens Elisabeth and Sophia Charlotte . In 1695 Brandt became a real secret council .
