Joachim Andreas Graf von Maltzan, Baron zu Wartenberg (born January 13, 1707 in Hünern , Duchy of Ohlau , † December 6, 1786 in Militsch ) was a Prussian envoy and cabinet minister .

Life

Origin and family

Joachim Andreas von Maltzan (no. 501 of the gender census ) was a member of the extensive aristocratic family Maltza (h) n and is attributed to its Militsch branch . His parents were Nicolaus Andreas Graf Maltzan, Freiherr zu Wartenberg and Penzlin (1670–1718) and Eva Maria Theresia, née Countess von Althann (1676–1766). He married Friederike Luise, née Countess von Platen-Hallermund (1713–1798), in Hanover in 1731 . The marriage produced three daughters and two sons, including:

Career

Maltzahn attended the Knight Academy in Liegnitz from 1723 to 1726 . After that he joined the imperial army and at the age of 21 was a cornet in the "Württemberg" regiment. In 1728 he became the universal heir of his uncle Joachim Wilhelm von Maltzan and in this way in 1730 he became a rank lord of Militsch.

Since November 1741 he has held the title of Real Secret Councilor and Cabinet Minister, and was still a Knight of the Order of the Black Eagle and the Order of Hubert

In 1752 he was briefly envoy to Poland and in 1779 he became chief treasurer in the Duchy of Silesia .
